Fischer Tradition

Let it be known, my choice to buy this beer was so that I could use the bottle for homebrewing

Fischer Tradition = 0/10

The aroma from this lifeless beer reminded me of grass, vegetables, wet paper and urine. It's flavour was no better: lettuce, grass and metallic corn. Luckily the acidic/astringent metallic and herbal hop snap at the end was short lived. It wasn't so much a snap, but a tongue smack with a wet lasagna noodle. Sometimes I think beers are exported because no one will drink this crap back home.

Gavroche

Gavroche

Ratebeer 3.4 81st percentile

Gavroche is a "Biere de Garde" generally brewed in France during the winter or early spring. It was meant to be stored, or kept, for drinking during the summer. Brewing can be hard during the summer months because some yeasts to not like high temperatures. They can be similar in flavours to Saisons.

It was hard to smell through the huge fluffy head on this beer, but you could make out cereal, yeast, herbal and roasted grain. At the start you have a heavy carbonation which meshed nicely with the tart dried berry flavours. This dismounted and the sweet ride of spicy, warming toffee swarmed all over the gastronomic crevice that is the mouth.

Aftertaste +2

The most pleasant, long coating of (light) spicy toffee.

Alcohol Content +1 8.5%

This was a nice surprise, hence the warming.

This was a nice brew, but I think it cost me over 4 bucks. It was not that nice.

Tried out the Dam map for L4D. I think it must be my aftershave, but those tanks love me.

Overall 6/10

This was a nice beer, if you like the style.

Had this one on tap at the Penny Farthing Pub. Not sure is it was the 1664 or the plain.

Taste was average; barely flowery hops with whiffs of grass and honey. It was very light and drinkable, a little watery though. The nose did have a slight plum and spice sensation, but it was a stretch. It tasted a lot like apple cider.

Aftertaste +1

Very clean finish and not too mouth puckering.

Alcohol Content -1 4.7%

Value 0

It was alright.

Ingame Enhancement +1

Just sat in the pub and talked with my friend Donovan (aka. Pretty Blue Eyes), so it was a good night.

Overall 2/10

Bleck, boring beer. Only slightly above average.

This one wins points for the most complicated bottle to open.

Almost no nose, perhaps very light honey and smell of carbonation. It had a very light taste of honey, vanilla and almonds, rather like Heineken but with a kick. Heavy on the carbonation. There was this notable wheat taste through the whole bottle.

Aftertaste 0

It was a very clean and unremarkable dry finish, maybe a bit of grain sweetness. This stuff kept coming back with the numerous burps from the heavy carbonation, which didn't seem out of place.

Ouch, this was a stealth beer. After I finished this off, I could barely feel my hands.

Value 0

This was almost $8 for the 750ml bottle. It also required an engineering degree and special tools to open the bottle (see photo).

This beer was after the Innis and Gunn, I was feeling no pain. I wish I could say the same for the zombies. I think 3.2 million zombies were injured in the making of this evening.

Overall 4/10

This was a nice beer, but nothing remarkable. The added alcohol content made it fun.
