Bete Noire Paddock Wood

Bete Noire Paddock Wood

Ratebeer 3.5 82nd percentile
Beer Advocate B+

This one was labeled as a black ale. Perhaps it might be classified as an oatmeal stout. People have preconceived ideas about the word 'stout'. Not all stouts are thick and heavy. Take this brew for example...

Taste +4

With a nose of burnt coffee and roasted grains, you know the flavour will match. It is rich and roasty with dry cocoa powder and coffee malts. The mouthfeel is lighter than expected and effervescent.

Aftertaste +1

The long coating of roast and bitter cocoa faded quicker than expected.

Alcohol Content 0 5.4%

Value +1

It was nice and I would get it again. It should be noted that it tasted suspiciously close to my stout homebrew kit.

Ingame Enhancent 0

Quickly working my through the Big Box o' Beer from Paddock Wood.

Overall 6/10

If you like a dry, roasted stout this one will make you happy. If you like it a lot, make your own. The BrewHouse stout homebrew kit tastes very, very similar.
